Learn More

A cyberattack has been detected at two hospitals and a nursing home within the Westchester Medical Center Health Network, New York. The impacted facilities within the HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley include HealthAlliance Hospital, Margaretville Hospital, and Mountainside Residential Care Center.

At this moment no details are available about the cyberattack nor it's impact to data.

Westchester Medical Center Health Network has temporarily diverted ambulances from HealthAlliance Hospital, announcing plans to take down all IT systems at the affected hospitals and the nursing home for approximately 24 hours.

During this period, they will gradually restore the systems over the weekend. HealthAlliance Hospital will remain open, but ambulances will be redirected, and some patients may be transferred to other facilities or their homes if feasible. Patients arriving at HealthAlliance Hospital will receive treatment and, if possible, be released. For those requiring further care, the hospital will stabilize them and arrange transfers to other facilities within the system.

The organization has communicated the need for ambulance diversion and patient transfers to local EMS operators, potentially affected medical facilities, elected officials, the New York State Department of Health, and patients' families.

Westchester Medical Center Health Network has notified law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, and is collaborating with a cybersecurity company to assess the extent of the affected systems and resolve the issue.
