Wilton Reassurance Life Company of New York (Wilton Re) has reported a data breach.
The incident has exposed confidential consumer information of 1,482,490 individuals due to a vendor's use of the MOVEit compromised secure file-transfer software.
The breach resulted in unauthorized access to consumers' names and Social Security numbers, prompting Wilton Re to send out data breach notification letters to affected individuals.
The breach is linked to PBI Research Services, a company providing death verification services, and their use of MOVEit secure file transfer software developed by Progress Software.
Wilton Reassurance has begun reviewing compromised files to determine the extent of the breach, and affected individuals have been notified.
