8Base hacker group claims data theft from Kansas Medical Center
Take action: No honor among thieves. A crime group can have a legitimate data theft, but they can only run a scam exploiting the significant concerns of organizations due to other data breaches. At any rate, the data is already stolen and will be sold/traded. It's best to try to protect the individuals and learn from the event.

8Base, a relatively new crime/hacking group, claims to have stolen patient data and employee info from Kansas Medical Center on June 18 and to have downloaded data on July 11.
The data is said to include:
- personal documents,
- identity cards,
- health insurance,
- patient data (numbers\addresses\registration numbers and others),
- personal data of employees,
- internal documents,
- accounts and financial documents.
8Base threatens that they will publish the data as a leak on July 15. Unlike other ransomware groups, 8Base doesn't provide public proof that could be used to verify their claims.
Due to the unlcear nature of the event - whether it's a real theft or a scam, there is no clarity on the number of affected individuals.
