The shoe retail giant Aldo, a Canadian enterprise with nearly 3,000 stores in 100 countries has disclosed that a recent ransomware claim by the LockBit gang pertains to one of its franchise associates. LockBit asserted on Wednesday that they had targeted Aldo, setting a deadline of December 25 for a ransom payment to prevent the release of a certain quantity of compromised data. The nature and volume of the stolen data remain undisclosed.

A representative from Aldo informed that this cyber incident involved the systems of a franchise partner. The spokesperson emphasized that the breach was quickly neutralized, leaving Aldo's operations unscathed. They assured that none of Aldo Group's systems were implicated.

Following a detailed probe, the partner confirmed that the compromised data is confined to their activities in a particular international region. Importantly, no customer financial or payment card details were affected, as such data is not stored. The spokesperson expressed confidence in the partner's competent management of this isolated incident.
