The cooperative's President and CEO, alerted retailers and customers on a Sunday evening about the attack that occurred on the morning of October 29, which disrupted several of the cooperative's crucial operational systems.
As detailed in a notice circulated on Reddit, services like ACENET, warehouse management, mobile retail assistance, and various customer-related systems have been halted or are experiencing interruptions.
The cooperative has cautioned its members about interrupted shipments and advised against placing new orders due to delivery delays. Efforts to reinstate the affected systems are underway, but Ace has indicated uncertainty about the recovery timeline.
Details regarding the specific nature of the cyberattack and potential data breaches remain undisclosed.
Update - Ace Hardware explains that the company operates 1,400 servers and 3,500 networked devices. Of these 1,202 have been impacted by the cyberattack, including 196 are servers that are being restored so that the receiving, picking, and shipping of orders can resume.
Although the online storefront remains navigable, it currently cannot process orders. Ace’s physical store locations continue to operate, unaffected by the cyber incident in terms of point-of-sale and credit card transactions.
