Japanese logistics company Kintetsu World Express confirms ransomware attack

Kintetsu World Express (KWE), a Japanese logistics provider specializing in global air and sea cargo services, has confirmed it was hit by a ransomware attack that disrupted some of its systems. The Tokyo-based company, a subsidiary of Kintetsu Group Holdings railway company, operates in over 30 countries worldwide.

The attack was first discovered on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, when KWE initially reported service disruptions affecting certain customers. On the 30th of April 2025, the company officially confirmed the incident was a ransomware attack. 

The full scope of system disruption, potential data compromise or any impacted individuals is still being assessed.

KWE reports it is currently in the process of restoring affected systems and has committed to notifying customers immediately if their data is determined to have been compromised.
