Alera Group data breach exposed nearly 11,000 Individuals

Alera Group, an insurance brokerage firm is reporting a data breach.
The incident stemmed from unauthorized access to the company's technology environment that occurred between July 19 and August 4, 2024. Alera Group initially detected the breach in August 2024 and launched an investigation to determine the nature of the incident.
On April 28, 2025, Alera Group confirmed that personal information may have been stolen. The data breach has potentially compromised the sensitive information of approximately 10,874 individuals who received services from Alera Group or its clients and third-party providers. Among the affected are some of Alera's current and former employees and their dependents. The exposed data includes:
- Names
- Addresses
- Dates of birth
- Birth and marriage certificates
- Social Security numbers
- Driver's licenses
- Financial account information
- Credit card details
- Passport data
- Other government-issued identification documents
The nature of the attack is not disclosed.
Alera Group began notifying potentially affected individuals on May 21, 2025 and is offering affected individuals complimentary credit-monitoring and identity-theft protection services through IDX for a period of 24 months.
