The Mount Kisco Surgery Center, operating as the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Westchester in New York, has notified 22,139 patients that their protected health information was exposed and potentially stolen due to suspicious activity in an employee’s email account.

The breach was detected on November 3, 2023. A forensic investigation confirmed unauthorized access from October 23, 2023, to November 3, 2023.

The compromised data varied among patients, including:

  • Names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Driver’s license numbers
  • State identification numbers
  • Dates of birth
  • Medical information (diagnosis, treatment, and prescription details)
  • Health insurance information (claim information and health insurance numbers)

Notification letters were sent to the impacted individuals on June 26, 2024.

Ambulatory Surgery Center of Westchester claims that to date, there have been no reports of misuse of the compromised patient data.
