Residents of Baltimore County potentially had their personal data exposed due to a cyberattack that targeted the "MOVEit" file transfer software. The Baltimore County Government confirmed the security breach which ocurred through a breach of a third party - PBI Research Services

PBI informed the county about the breach on June 14, disclosing the exposed data including

  • first and last names,
  • dates of birth,
  • addresses,
  • Social Security numbers

The number of affected individuals is not disclosed.

Baltimore County Government conducted an in-depth internal investigation in collaboration with PBI but found no evidence of direct misuse of residents' private information at that time.

PBI plans to personally notify affected individuals about the breach and establish a dedicated call center to address concerns and provide credit monitoring services for those impacted. The details of the credit monitoring services and contact instructions for the call center will be included in the notification letters sent by PBI.
