Williamson County, Texas, is managing the fallout from a data breach that compromised the personal information of approximately 3,763 residents. This breach, was caused by an unauthorized access to an email account within the 277th district court in November 2022.
The sensitive information exposed includes:
- names,
- addresses,
- dates of birth,
- Social Security numbers,
- driver's license numbers,
- passport details,
- payment account information.
Williamson County has initiated measures to inform impacted residents through mail notifications and has established a toll-free information line available weekdays.
Impacted individuals are advised a to take immediate steps like freezing their credit, notifying banks and insurance providers, and using free identity theft monitoring services, as well as reset passwords and enable multi-factor authentication.
