Learn More

The Beirut International Airport Rafic Hariri, Lebanon's main international airport experienced a cyberattack that impacted several of it's systems.

During the incident, threat actors successfully infiltrated the Flight Information Display System (FIDS) and the Baggage Handling System (BHS) at the airport.

As a result, the hackers broadcasted a message on the airport's screens. This message accused Hezbollah and Iran of dragging Lebanon into war, contrary to the wishes of the Lebanese population, and warned of potential repercussions, including the bombing of the airport, due to arms smuggling.

The BHS system attack led to disruptions in baggage inspection processes. Consequently, airport personnel resorted to using police dogs for inspecting luggage. No details are available of any delays in flights caused by this attack.

The incident is obviously linked to the tensions between Israel and Lebanon. However, no hacker group has yet come forward to claim responsibility for this security breach. The airport has not provided any details about the nature of the attack.
