The Belize Electricity Limited (B.E.L.) is reporting that cyber attack perpetrators have made public some highly sensitive and confidential information pertaining to the company's transactions.
Cybersecurity researchers report that a ransomware group by the name of Ragnar Locker has included Belize Electricity Limited in its list of victims.
According to this report, after issuing a deadline to B.E.L.'s management in which they were expected to comply with their ransom demands, the attackers proceeded to disclose a staggering 355 gigabytes of data online.
No details are available on the data exposed or the number of affected individuals.
B.E.L. assures the public that no confidential information from the company's critical IT software or database management systemss, nor from their operations technology network responsible for grid monitoring and control, has been compromised or leaked.
