The Chinese University's School of Continuing and Professional Studies (CUSCS), part of the Chinese University of Hong Kong has announced a data breach that compromised the personal information of over 20,000 individuals, including students, staff, faculty, and visitors.

The breach, discovered last week, affected the school's online learning platform, exposing sensitive data such as:

  • Student numbers

CUSCS is in the process of notifying those impacted by the breach. The school confirmed that, as of now, the compromised personal details have not appeared on the dark web.

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data has been informed. The school is taking steps to enhance its cybersecurity measures to prevent future breaches.
