The City of Durant, Oklahoma, fell victim to a ransomware attack on June 1, 2025 disrupting municipal operations and digital services for the community of over 20,000 residents. 

The attack occurred on Sunday, June 1st, Тhe city reported the incident to law enforcement and worked with cybersecurity experts to contain it and restore operations. 

The  attack disrupted multiple city operations:

  • Digital payment systems for city services
  • Credit card payment processing capabilities
  • Administrative programs and systems
  • The city's website remained down as of Tuesday afternoon
  • The local police department's communication center is experiencing network outages
  • Emergency services remain operational through 911, though wait times may be longer than normal due to the outage and call volume 

The incident was confirmed as a ransomware attack targeting the City of Durant's network infrastructure. Durant police investigators are actively searching for the source of the weekend cyber attack

City officials state they are "not aware of any known compromise to anyone's personal information" and that the attack "hasn't reached any residents" Durant targeted by ransomware attack, some services impacted

Possible breach of credit card payment information status is still under investigation.
