ComTec Systems, Inc., a telecommunications and technology solutions provider based in New Jersey, reports a data breach to the Maine Attorney General on April 1, 2026. The incident involved unauthorized access to the company's computer network in late 2025.

The PEAR ransomware group claimed responsibility for the attack on its dark web leak site.

Attackers gained access to segments of the ComTec network between September 19 and September 22, 2025. During this three-day window, the threat actors stole sensitive files. Although the company detected suspicious activity on September 22, 2025, the full scope of the data compromise was not confirmed until March 16, 2026.

The compromised data includes:

  • Full names
  • Undisclosed Personally Identifiable Information (PII)
  • Additional sensitive data (varying by individual)

The number of affected individuals is not disclosed.

ComTec Systems launched an investigation with external cybersecurity specialists to contain the incident and assess the damage. The company began sending written notification letters to affected consumers on April 1, 2026 and is offering 12 months of free credit monitoring, identity theft insurance, and restoration services.
