Connex Credit Union, a Connecticut-based financial services institution, reports a cybersecurity incident that compromised the personal information of 172,000 members.
Connex detected suspicious activity on its computer systems on June 3, 2025, and started an immediate investigation with assistance of cybersecurity experts. The investigation confirmed that hackers had breached the credit union's network and may have accessed or downloaded files between June 2 and June 3, 2025
The exposed data includes:
- Names
- Account numbers
- Debit card information
- Social Security numbers
- Other government identification numbers used to open accounts
The nature of the attack is not disclosed.
Connex Credit Union filed data breach notifications with the California Attorney General and other state authorities on August 7, 2025, is notifying the affected individuals and is offering affected members 12 months of free credit monitoring and identity protection services.
