The Contra Costa Transit Authority a.k.a County Connection, which operates bus services and paratransit in Contra Costa County in California, has reported a cybersecurity breach.
On Friday 17th of May 2024, the transit authority reported that an "unauthorized actor" might have accessed files and data stored within its network. Although the exact data breached remains unknown, County Connection has taken measures to lock down its network and has hired a specialized cybersecurity firm to investigate the incident.
Currently, County Connection claims that they have no evidence to suggest that customers' financial account numbers or Social Security numbers were compromised. But they haven't disclosed what data has been compromised.
The nature of the attack and the number of affected individuals is also not disclosed.
The organization is working to locate address information to notify impacted individuals directly.
