The Kaiserslautern University of Applied Sciences (HS Kaiserslautern) in Germany has fallen victim to a ransomware attack, resulting in the complete shutdown of its IT infrastructure.
The shutdown incldue email services, telephone systems, computer pools, and library services and is affecting over 6,200 students.
The university has advised its staff and students not to switch on their work computers due to the encryption attack, indicating that the workstations may also be compromised.
It is unclear who the attackers are and whether any data was stolen prior to the encryption attempt.
