Sheffield schools report data leak as part of the Capita breach

Sheffield Council reports that a data breach of payroll systems havs impacted of multiple schools in the city. The schools have contracts with the private company Capita, which provides payroll services to them.
The breach specifically impacts the staff working at each school.
Capita was breached in March and reported the incident in April. Unfortunately a large number of organizations were affected by this breach and the cascade of data breaches continues.
Sheffield Council clarified that it is not directly involved in the data hack but is committed to supporting the affected schools during this challenging period. The council is actively assisting the affected schools.
One employee from a Sheffield city school reported receiving an email from Capita in which the company explains they could not currently confirm the exact nature of the affected data. The email mentioned that potentially impacted data could include names, dates of birth, and national insurance numbers. The employee also noted that Capita assured them that there was no evidence of any misuse of the compromised data.
Unfortunately, there is no information on the number of affected individuals.
Capita is cooperating with authorities, including the Information Commissioner's Office, the Financial Conduct Authority, and the National Cyber Security Centre.
