UL Hospitals Group, which oversees six hospitals in the Ireland Midwest region, has disclosed a significant data breach.

The data breach has inadvertently shared the personal and medical information of over 1,000 patients with an unknown third party due to a staff member's error. The affected patients received gastroenterology services at University Hospital Limerick, Ennis Hospital, and Nenagh Hospital between 2018 and January 2023

The breach occurred in January, involving an email attachment containing patient names, dates of birth, medical chart numbers, and limited medical information, but not personal contact details.

Efforts to recover the data and identify the recipient have been unsuccessful so far, and no evidence of further disclosure has been found.
