Data leak at Ireland Recruitment Provider exposing 15,000 people

Around 15,500 individuals have been notified about a potential data breach by a recruitment service provider - Public Appointments Service (PAS)- responsible for civil and public service jobs.

The breach occurred due to an "administrative error," resulting in 15,471 candidates receiving a message that may have contained someone else's name and their preferred job roles.

Prior to the recall action taken by publicjobs.ie, the website of the Public Appointments Service (PAS), 529 candidates had already opened the message. PAS confirmed that only the names and job alert lists of the individuals were involved, assuring that no further personal information was compromised.

The incident affected individuals who were subscribed to lists providing updates on specific civil service roles.

PAS promptly informed the impacted individuals about the error and the recall of the message. They advised recipients to delete the message if it contained another person's name and job alert list.

The Data Protection regulator has been notified, and All affected individuals have been contacted by PAS.
