The healthcare provider Des Moines Orthopaedic Surgeons, P.C., (DMOS), reported a data breach following the discovery that an external entity had illegitimately gained access to DMOS's computer network.
DMOS encountered a security breach due to a third-party vendor's failure, allowing unauthorized access to their computer network. Subsequently, DMOS took steps to secure its systems, contain the breach, and commenced an in-depth investigation with the assistance of external cybersecurity experts.
