Details of Australian federal police officers leaked after HWL Ebsworth breach

Learn More

The personal information of Australian Federal Police (AFP) officers has been exposed on the dark web in a significant data breach that may also pose a threat to other prominent agencies.

This breach is linked to a cyber attack on the law firm HWL Ebsworth, a legal service provider to the AFP, earlier in April, orchestrated by ransomware group named ALPHV/Blackcat, raising concerns about the widespread dissemination of highly sensitive data.

The federal police association expressed serious concerns about the breach and its potential repercussions on the affected members. The law firm, HWL Ebsworth, has obtained a court order to prevent the spread of the leaked material, although that didn't help much in preventing the breached data to be leaked.
