The Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) reports a data breach which compromised sensitive personal information.

The DSO detected unusual activities that hindered access to specific systems on September 27th 2023. DSO started an incident management process to secure its infrastructure and engaged cybersecurity professionals to conduct an investigation.

It was discovered that between September 19 and September 27, 2023, an unauthorized actor had gained access to and obtained certain data from the DSO's network.

The findings of the investigation are that the breach had  resulted in the exposure of individuals' names and Social Security numbers. At least 6,778 people are affected by the breach. No details are disclosed about the nature of the attack.

The DSO has sent notifications to the affected individuals via first-class U.S. mail on April 1, 2024.
