Econsult reports ransomware attack, compromising personal data

Econsult Solutionsm (ESI), has reportedly fallen victim to a data breach. Econsult is an economic analysis and consulting firm renowned for its work with prominent institutions such as the City of Philadelphia, Pew Charitable Trusts, and others in the region.
It appears that the company's data is currently being held for ransom. Econsult employees have received an email from management addressing an "IT incident" that has compromised the company's data.
The exposed data includes some employees' 2022 W-2 forms, which contain their social security numbers.
It's unknown whether customers of Econsult's have been exposed in this ransomware attack
The official statement from ESI states: "At the beginning of this month, ESI (Econsult Solutions, Inc.) discovered a cybersecurity incident that temporarily impacted certain network systems. We have initiated an investigation and are diligently working with external experts to determine the nature and extent of the information that may have been compromised."
The City of Philadelphia, a client of Econsult, has been informed of the breach but per their reporting the information used to generate reports for the city by ESI is publicly available so the breach doesn't seem to affect the City of Philadelphia.
