AMEOS Group, one of the largest private healthcare networks in Central Europe, is reporting a security breach that potentially exposed sensitive patient, employee, and partner information.
AMEOS is a Zurich-based healthcare provider that employs 18,000 staff across over 100 hospitals, clinics, rehabilitation centers, and nursing homes located throughout Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.
The attack occurred on July 7, 2025, caused the organization to shut down all digital systems after their IT team identified the breach. The shutdown affected communication, documentation, and image data transmission. Email traffic was completely disrupted at several clinics.
Patient care remained uninterrupted. Emergency departments and critical therapeutic and diagnostic services, including emergency laboratories, remained accessible and operational at all times.
