The Everest ransomware gang has claimed responsibility for a cyber attack against Evidn, a Queensland-based applied behavioral science firm that maintains significant partnerships with government entities and educational institutions.

Evidn, located in Fortitude Valley, Queensland, provides behavioral science services including profiling, analysis, change management programs, and skills training. Their client portfolio includes major organizations like the Queensland Government, University of Virginia, Princeton University, Great Barrier Reef Foundation and others.

The threat actors announced the breach on their darknet leak site on January 9, 2025, claiming to have exfiltrated 50 gigabytes of company data. The group has set a two-week deadline for ransom payment, though the specific ransom amount has not been disclosed. Notably, the gang has not provided evidence to substantiate their claimed breach.

The specific types of data compromised and number of affected individuals are not disclosed. Evidn has not responded to media inquiries.
