France Travail, the French national employment agency, is reporting a data breach that potentially compromised the personal information of 340,000 jobseekers.
The incident is a second breach to impact the agency within two years.
The incident was detected on July 13, 2025, on France Travail's employment portal, which is used by partner organizations to access training and employment services. The breach is believed to be caused by compromised account via infostealer malware. The compromised user account was linked to a training organization based in Isère.
The attackers leveraged their initial access to compromise Kairos, an application that enables training organizations to track the training progress of jobseekers. Exposed data includes:
- Names (first and last names)
- Postal addresses
- Email addresses
- Phone numbers
- France Travail identifiers
- Jobseeker statuses
The agency assured that users' passwords and bank details are not affected.
France Travail has filed a complaint with the French authorities, notified the French Data Protection Agency (CNIL), and informed the affected individuals. The agency shut down the compromised employment portal and all associated partner services to prevent further unauthorized access.
The services are expected to be reactivated on July 24.
