Franklin Mutual Insurance Group (FMI) reported a data breach. An unauthorized party managed to gain access to consumers' sensitive information, prompting FMI to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.

The data breach was a result of a ransomware attack in which an unauthorized actor gained access to FMI's computer system on March 11, 2023. FMI worked to block the unauthorized access, alerted the FBI, and initiated an investigation. The investigation confirmed that the unauthorized party had accessed and downloaded consumers' personal information from the company's computer system.

Unfortunately no details are available as to the number of affected individuals nor the exposed data.

Once FMI became aware that sensitive consumer data was exposed, they reviewed the compromised files to identify the information that had been leaked and the impacted individuals. On July 13, 2023, Franklin Mutual Insurance commenced the process of sending data breach letters to notify those affected by the incident, informing them about the compromised information.
