Pro-Palestinian hacktivist group Handala Hack claims that they have breached the messaging app Viber and accessed 740GB of data, allegedly including the app's source code. Handala Hack is known for its attacks against Israeli entities.

The hacktivists are demanding a ransom of 8 Bitcoin, approximately $583,000, for the data they claim to have stolen. The group has made its demands known through a post on Telegram, and an image purportedly showcasing a directory listing of the stolen data accompanied the claim.

Viber, a subsidiary of the Japanese multinational firm Rakuten state that as of now, there is no evidence to suggest any intrusion or data compromise has occurred within their systems. Viber has taken the allegations seriously and has launched an investigation to ascertain the validity of Handala Hack's claims, emphasizing that user data security remains their utmost priority.
