The SPARSH portal, a web-based pension administration system for Indian defense personnel, developed by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), has been hit by a significant data leak.
This breach has compromised sensitive information of thousands of defense personnel, includingL
- usernames,
- passwords,
- pension details,
posing a serious risk to their privacy and financial security.
The leaked credentials have been found on Telegram and are reportedly being sold on a Russian dark web marketplace, suggesting potential involvement of Russian hacker groups. The leaked data, primarily of personnel in Kerala, has been confirmed by journalirsts who used the compromised credentials to successfully access SPARSH.
This breach raises concerns about the security and integrity of processes like consistent pensioner profiles, data verification, application tracking, pension disbursement, and life certificate submission on the portal.
So far no official confirmation has been issued, and the number of affected individuals is not known.
