American Renal Associates, also known as Innovative Renal Care has reported a data breach attributed to a ransomware attack on March 2nd, 2024. American Renal Associates operates 250 dialysis centers across 25 states, collaborates with seven health systems, and works with more than 400 nephrologists nationwide.
The attack led to the unauthorized access and leak of approximately 5 terabytes of sensitive consumer data. The stolen data includes:
- Patient names
- Dates of birth
- Phone numbers
- Email addresses
- Medical records
- Social Security numbers
- Copies of passports and driver’s licenses
- Health insurance information
- Company data
Details of the security breach and the number of affected individuals are not disclosed.
American Renal Associates has commenced issuing notification letters to the affected individuals.
