Learn More

Jackson County reports disruptions in its computer systems, suspected to be caused by a ransomware attack. The disruptions have impacted various systems across the county, including:

  • tax payments,
  • online property records,
  • marriage licenses,
  • inmate searches.

The assessment, collection, and recorder of deeds offices at all county locations will remain closed until further notice.

Currently, there's no evidence suggesting any data compromise, and law enforcement along with IT security contractors are working to resolve the issue and restore affected services. The county is in the early stages of diagnostic procedures to confirm the exact nature of the disruption and has taken immediate actions to secure systems against further compromise.

The attack did not affect the Kansas City Board of Elections or the Jackson County Board of Elections, so the voting process, remains unaffected.
