The Kaspersky fan club forum, a Russian language platform dedicated to discussions about Kaspersky Labs' products and cybersecurity topics, has been hit by a cyber attack and data breach.
The forum administrators have confirmed the breach and attributed it to an attack on the forum’s hosting service provider. In response, a mass password reset was initiated to safeguard user accounts.
The breach occurred on March 24, 2024 but was not disclosed until April 4, 2024. It exposed information such as:
- full names,
- IP addresses,
- email addresses,
- password hashes.
The hacker group RGB has leaked the information of 56,798 users of the forum. Despite the forum's unofficial status, nearly 200 users with email addresses belonging to the @kaspersky.com domain (very probably employees) are part of the leaked data.
Kaspersky Labs has conducted an investigation into the incident and claims that its servers, systems, or domains were not compromised, framing the breach as an isolated event concerning only the fan club forum.
