Kerrville Independent School District reports data breach affecting 4,300 individuals

Kerrville Independent School District in Texas is reporting a data breach that exposed sensitive personal information of 4,300 individuals. 

The school district notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the breach and engaged external cybersecurity experts to assist with the investigation and help determine the full scope of the compromise. The investigation confirmed that "an unauthorized party took copies of certain files from the district's network." 

Exposed data includes:

  • Social Security numbers
  • Financial information
  • State and federal identification numbers
  • Medical information
  • Additional personal data contained in district files

The nature of the attack and the number of affected individuals is confirmed at 4,300 people.

Kerrville ISD has implemented additional measures to enhance network security and prevent similar future occurrences. All affected individuals were notified via mail correspondence.
