Lanett, Alabama EMS services may have been impacted by a data breach that has potentially exposed the personal information of patients. The incidewnt is related to a breach of the MOVEit file transfer tool breach that used by EMS Management and Consultants, the company responsible for managing billing for the city's EMS services.

The breach was brought to the attention of Lanett's Fire and EMS Chief, Johnny Allen, by EMSMC's IT experts, prompting the company to take action.

EMSMC engaged a third-party data analysis firm which concluded that the compromised data includes sensitive information:

  • patients' names,
  • transport dates,
  • social security numbers,
  • dates of birth,
  • encounter/transport numbers,
  • billing codes.

This exposure of private information prompted EMSMC, acting on behalf of the city of Lanett, to reach out to individuals who might have been affected by sending out letters. No details are disclosed about the number of impacted individuals.
