Mack Energy Corporation, an independent oil and gas company headquartered in New Mexico, reports a ransomware attack that was detected on July 9, 2025.
The breach was claimed by the group Cicada3301. Attackers claim they have stolen approximately 3.1 terabytes of sensitive company data.
The exposed data types included:
- Full names
- Social Security numbers
The breach was officially disclosed to the Texas Attorney General's office on November 7, 2025. The number of affected individuals is not disclosed apart from a reported 413 individuals in Texas.
The company has not provided details about whether ransom payment was demanded, considered, or paid to the attackers.
