MedInform, reported a data breach which occurred when an unauthorized user gained access to confidential information belonging to patients of the Cleveland Clinic, stored on MedInform's computer network.

MedInform detected suspicious activity within its computer network on December 21, 2022, prompting the company to secure its systems and initiate an investigation to determine if any consumer data had been accessed without authorization.

The investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party had indeed gained access to MedInform's computer system between December 5, 2022, and December 21, 2022. It was also determined that some of the accessible files contained confidential information belonging to patients of the Cleveland Clinic.

Upon discovering that sensitive consumer data had been exposed to an unauthorized party, MedInform began a review of the affected files to identify the compromised information and the individuals impacted. The breached information may include

  • names
  • addresses,
  • Social Security numbers,
  • medical billing information,
  • financial account information,

There are no details to the number of affected patients.

On May 24, 2023, MedInform sent data breach notification letters to all individuals whose information had been compromised as a result of this recent security incident.

MedInform, Inc, based in Independence, Ohio assists healthcare clients by providing medical billing statements, as well as UB-04 and HCFA documents, to streamline accounts payable processes.
