Deanco Healthcare LLC, operating as Mission Community Hospital in California, has reported a ransomware attack identified in early May. The breach was first noticed on May 1, 2023, when irregularities in their IT network suggested unauthorized access, which was later confirmed.
The notice lacked specific details about the nature of the attack. The RansomHouse cybercriminal group claimed responsibility on their dark web portal on May 31. They alleged to have locked and extracted 2.5 TB of data from MCH on April 29, with evidence of access as early as April 16 via remote desktop protocol.
The infiltrator accessed patient files, potentially compromising personal and medical information, including Social Security numbers and health insurance details. No details are disclosed about the number of affected individuals.
Affected individuals are offered a one-year subscription to Experian's IdentityWorksSM for protection.
