Mobile Medical Response (MMR), a medical transportation and ambulance service provider based in Michigan, has reported a data breach involving protected health information (PHI) due to an incident with their business associate, CBM Services.
On May 14, 2024, an unauthorized individual attempted to cash a check issued by CBM Services to MMR. The check included a statement of accounts listing the names of individuals who received transportation services from MMR.
MMR launched an investigation to understand the full extent of the incident.
The breach involved the disclosure of patient names.
Initially, MMR reported that approximately 500 individuals were affected by this breach. However, the total number of affected individuals is still being determined through an ongoing investigation.
MMR are in the process of notifying potentially affected individuals and providing guidance on how to protect personal information.
