The gang has listed Motel One on their ransomware site and claims to have stolen a total of approximately 6 TB or 24,449,137 files. This alleged stolen data encompasses booking confirmations spanning the past three years, containing

  • customer names,
  • addresses,
  • reservation dates,
  • payment methods,
  • contact details.

Furthermore, sensitive data such as customers' credit card information and internal company documents have also been claimed to be part of the stolen files.

So far no confirmation is available from Motel One.

Update - on 2nd October 2023 Motel One confirmed the data breach, explaining that it has been targeted by ransomware actors who managed to steal some customer data, including the details of 150 credit cards. According to the press release, unknown attackers intending to launch a ransomware attack had limited success thanks to its effective protective measures.

The AlphV group has issued a warning, threatening to publicly release this data and potentially tarnish the company's reputation unless a ransom is paid within five days.
