New York Life (NY Life), one of the largest and oldest life insurance companies in the United States reports a data breach involving MOVEit transfer software and impacting around 26,000 individuals.

NY Life started an immediate investigation and conducted a thorough manual review of its records to confirm the identities of the clients whose data was compromised. The breach exposed sensitive information, including customer's names and Social Security numbers.

In light of the breach, New York Life has committed to providing two months of Kroll Identity Monitoring services to those impacted by the breach. This service entails various protective measures, including receiving alerts regarding changes to their credit data, such as new credit applications made in their name. Additionally, clients will have unrestricted access to consultations with Kroll fraud specialists, who will guide them in safeguarding their identities.
