Omaha National reported a data breach after discovering that one of its company email accounts had been compromised.
Omaha National, based in Omaha, Nebraska, is an insurance company primarily providing workers’ compensation insurance plans to employers.
The breach was described as a result of a "targeted third-party effort" which led to the compromise of a company email account. Following the discovery of the breach, Omaha National took immediate action to secure the compromised email account and terminate any unauthorized access. The company then launched an investigation to determine the extent of the breach and what consumer information was affected.
The investigation revealed that the unauthorized actor accessed certain emails and attachments containing confidential consumer data. The exposed data includes:
- Names
- Social Security numbers
- Financial account information
The number of affected individuals is not disclosed.
Omaha National sent out data breach letters to the affected individuals, which should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
