Pinnacle Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine Specialists LLC ("Pinnacle"), based in Marietta, Georgia, has reported a data security incident that may have compromised the personal information of certain patients.
The breach was discovered on April 22, 2024, when Pinnacle identified suspicious activity within their network.
Pinnacle teams hasve locked down the network, engaged cybersecurity experts to investigate the breach and notified the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
The breach has exposed the following data:
- Names
- Dates of birth
- Medical or health information
- Health care treatment or diagnostic information
- Health insurance information
- Billing or payment information
The nature of the attack is not disclosed.
Pinnacle claims that over 500 patients were impacted, but has not disclosed a total number. They have provided notice via U.S. mail to initially identified impacted individuals and plans to notify additional affected individuals as they are identified.
