The renowned brewery Duvel Moortgat has experienced a significant disruption in its operations due to a ransomware attack. The attack resulted in a temporary halt in the production of its iconic beers, including Duvel, La Chouffe, Liefmans, De Koninck, and Maredsous.

The attack, which was discovered in the early hours between Tuesday and Wednesday, led to the encryption of the company's data by cybercriminals. The cyberattack affected four of its breweries located in Belgium and extended to its subsidiary in the United States, Boulevard Brewing.

Duvel Moortgat, confirmed the incident, stating that the company received an alert about the server breach around 1:30 a.m. The brewery reassures its customers that the existing stockpiles of beer would ensure that supply remains unaffected during this period.

Duvel Moortgat has stated is currently assessing the full impact of the cyberattack, with a particular focus on determining if any sensitive information was compromised.

Update - as of 7th of March 2024, the Stormous ransomware gang has taken credit for an attack on Duvel Moortgat Brewery. The company was added to Stormous’ leak site. The group is claiming to have stolen 88 gigabytes of data from Duve and gave a deadline of March 25 to pay the ransom.
