SafePay cybercriminal group claims breach of Waterford Surgical Center, a physician-owned ambulatory surgery center located in Waterford, Michigan.
The facility provides surgical services including orthopedic, plastic, general, gastrointestinal, ear, nose and throat, foot and podiatric, ophthalmology, and neurological surgery. In SafePay's post on their dark web leak site on September 1, 2025 the gang claimed that they stole sensitive organizational data. The allegedly exposed data includes:
- Patient names
- Contact details (addresses, phone numbers, email addresses)
- Social Security numbers
- Dates of birth
- Driver's license or state ID copies
- Health insurance information
- Medical records and treatment information
- Payment information
The number of affected patients and employees has not been disclosed. Waterford Surgical Center has not commented nor confirmed the claims. The center is expected to work with cybersecurity experts and law enforcement agencies to assess the full extent of the compromise and implement enhanced security measures.
