SafePay Ransomware Group Targets Smile Team Orthodontics in New South Wales

Smile Team Orthodontics, a dental practice operating six clinics in New South Wales, Australia, was listed as a victim on the SafePay ransomware group's darknet leak site on March 6, 2026. 

The attackers claim to have gained access to the practice's internal systems and stole a wide range of documents. The hackers published stolen data on March 10, 2026, after the organization reportedly did not meet their demands. The compromised data allegedly includes:

• Patient treatment histories and clinical records
• Hundreds of DentiCare patient payment plans
• Staff home addresses and personal email addresses
• Medical certificates and employee training records
• Internal staff listings for all six clinic locations

The number of affected individuals is not disclosed. Smile Team Orthodontics has not issued a public statement or responded to inquiries regarding the breach. It is unclear if the organization has engaged law enforcement or third-party forensic investigators to review the incident claims and published materials.
