SGI Seoul Guarantee hit by cyberattack, suspects ransomware

SGI Seoul Guarantee reports a cybersecurity incident that caused system failures affecting their insurance computer systems. The company suspects that the cause of this system failure is a ransomware attack.

SGI Seoul Guarantee provides lifestyle-oriented financial services, including mobile phone installment activation and real estate rental guarantees, as well as loan guarantees for financial institutions. 

The suspected ransomware group responsible for the attack is not disclosed. The company established an emergency response team and worked closely with external cybersecurity professionals to investigate the incident and secure their systems. 

SGI has not disclosed if any data has been exposed or the number of affected individuals
