The Space Bears ransomware group claims responsibility for obtaining internal Comcast material by exploiting a breach at Quasar Inc., a telecommunications engineering contractor based in Woodstock, Georgia. Quasar Inc. was listed as a victim on the gang's dark web site on December 4, 2025, and Comcast appeared separately on December 8, 2025.

The initial breach at Quasar Inc. is believed to have occurred around October 7, 2025, but was not detected for nearly two months.

According to Space Bears' claims, the breach at Quasar Inc. provided an entry point to access Comcast-related material because Quasar produces technical documentation for Comcast and its Genesis program. Space Bears set a six-day timer before threatening to release the Comcast material publicly and is offering the data for purchase during this period. The group has not provided sample files from the alleged Comcast dataset

The compromised data from Quasar Inc., according to Space Bears' dark web postings, includes:

  • Network project documentation and drawings
  • Detailed city infrastructure maps with communications designs
  • Technical documentation for telecommunications networks
  • GIS-based project design materials
  • Field documentation and permitting records
  • Communication layout diagrams
  • Proprietary engineering specifications
  • Confidential client deliverables

The number of affected individuals  have not been disclosed.

Both Comcast and Quasar Inc. have not issued official statements or responses regarding these claims. Law firms have begun investigating potential class action lawsuits against Quasar Inc. for the data breach.
