The Hawaii State Judiciary reports data breach exposing current and former employees

The Hawaii State Judiciary is investigating a data breach that compromised the personal information of approximately 2,600 individuals, including 1,700 current employees and 900 former employees.
The breach was detected on October 4, involved unauthorized access to an employee's email inbox containing files used for payroll processing. The exposed data includes:
- Names
- Addresses
- Social Security numbers
- Dates of birth
The breach did not include any bank account information, and it was contained within a day. According to the Judiciary, no other data outside of these files was affected.
The affected individuals were notified via letter and advised to register for free fraud alerts with the three major credit bureaus as a precaution.
